Fire Door Installation

Fire Doors Fitted For Performance

A fire door is only as effective as its installation. Even the highest-rated doorset will fail if it is poorly fitted, leaving gaps, misaligned frames or missing seals that compromise protection. That is why we handle every installation and replacement with the same level of precision and accountability.

For doors that cannot be remediated, replacement is often the safest and most cost-effective route. We provide a complete service, from surveying existing doors through to supplying and fitting new certified doorsets. Every detail is recorded through Bolster Systems, giving estates teams and duty holders the evidence they need for compliance.

Why Fire Door Installation Matters

Fire doors are only as strong as their weakest detail. Even a certified doorset will fail if it is poorly fitted or assembled with the wrong components. Correct installation ensures that the door performs to its full fire rating, holding back fire and smoke and protecting escape routes.

Replacement is equally critical. Doors that are damaged, altered or beyond repair must be swapped out with certified units that are installed to industry standards. Working with RECOM allows estates teams to avoid any gaps in compliance, reduce potential liability and maintain the integrity of the building’s fire strategy.

Legal Requirements

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, fire doors must be fit for purpose and correctly installed to the manufacturer’s certification. A compliant doorset is only considered effective if every component, from frame to ironmongery, has been installed in line with tested detail. Duty holders are responsible for ensuring new or replacement fire doors meet these requirements from day one.

Building Safety Act

The Building Safety Act 2022 places stricter duties on fire door compliance in high-rise residential and complex multi-occupancy buildings. Installation and replacement now require not only certified workmanship but also clear evidence that the work has been done correctly. Our use of Bolster Systems ensures every doorset is recorded and aligned with the Golden Thread of Information, giving accountable persons the traceability they need.
