RECOM Fire Solutions was appointed to oversee surveying and fire remedial works as part of the Bradford Schools programme. The initiative covers seven schools across West Yorkshire and forms a long-term strategy to maintain compliance and keep learning environments safe.

The programme was developed following compliance audits that identified the need for a proactive, cyclical approach to fire door maintenance. Schools within the programme now commit to six-monthly surveys and annual remedial works, ensuring issues are addressed quickly and compliance remains consistent.
Our scope of services includes fire door remediation and replacement, budget-sensitive compliance planning, extensive surveys, and strategic project management. All works are recorded within Bolster compliance software, giving the client and schools full visibility of the repairs and replacements carried out.
What we did differently
Delivering fire safety works in live educational environments required careful planning and flexibility. Works were scheduled out of hours and, where possible, during school holidays to avoid disruption to staff and pupils.
Each request was treated as a high priority. We worked backwards from the desired outcome, planning surveys, allocating resources, and programming works to ensure efficiency and quick resolution of issues.
Using Bolster compliance software, every remedial action and inspection is logged, creating a clear record of each fire door and area. This provides a full history of repairs and highlights recurring issues so they can be escalated for replacement.
We also worked in partnership with Amey, the FM provider for the schools, coordinating through their helpdesk to ensure smooth scheduling. Our teams liaised directly with caretakers at each school to confirm access and on-site requirements, while progress updates kept both Amey and the schools fully informed.
